Nokia Lumia 1520 Release Date Delayed : Phablet Will Be Unveiled October 22nd
Nokia's Lumia 1520 phablet has been delayed until the end of October.
Nokia were expected to unveil the Lumia 1520 at the end of September. However, it now looks as though the company’s first phablet has now been delayed.
Reuters are reporting that Nokia will unveil the Lumia 1520 at a launch event at the end of October - with EVLeaks adding that it'll take place on October 22nd. Nokia’s 6 inch monster is expected to go on sale later in October or early in November - with the latter more likely in the UK.
What’s the reason for the delay ?
Well, things at Nokia are pretty hectic at the moment after the company’s mobile division was bought by Microsoft earlier this month. As with any acquisition there will be a switchover period including a number of internal changes - so, understandably the launch of the Lumia 1520 has been put on the back-burner.
Will the Lumia 1520 be worth the wait ?
The Nokia Lumia 1520 is a device of many firsts : it’s Nokia’s first phablet, the first 1080p Windows Phone and the first to have a quad-core processor. Overall, it’s a pretty significant launch for Nokia and a landmark moment for the Windows Phone platform.
Whether it can compete with Samsung’s Galaxy Note 3 and Sony’s Xperia Z Ultra is another thing altogether. However, it’ll go down a storm with Nokia fans and those looking for a phablet running on the Windows Phone platform.
