The mobile world might be more concerned with Android KitKat and the recently unveiled Samsung Galaxy Note 3, but those who've already bought a smartphone havn't been completely forgotten. With Samsung confirming that the Galaxy S4 and Galaxy S3 will get Android 4.3 next month.
Last month we reported that the Galaxy S3 would get updated to the latest version of Jelly Bean - but now we know for sure it'll land in October. Samsung didn't give a more precise launch date - presumably because it differs so much by region and mobile operator.
As soon as the upgrade becomes available owners of either smartphone should receive automatic notification. It's likely to be a pretty big update, so presumably it'll only be downloable using WiFi, and as always we recommend you backup your data and settings before updating.
But what new features and improvements will Android 4.3 bring to the smartphones ?
Owners of the Galaxy S4 and Galaxy S3 can look forward to support for Bluetooth Smart accessories, improved gaming performance thanks to OpenGL ES 3.0 support, actionable notifications and the new Daydream interactive screen-saver.
The Samsung Galaxy Note 2 will also get Android 4.3, but right now we don't know when it'll roll-out for Samsung's phablet. As soon as 3G get more news you'll be the first to know.
