BlackBerry Z30 Specs, Price and Release Date
BlackBerry Z30 specification, price and release date.
Two days ago we warned you to expect a BlackBerry Z30 announcement and yesterday BlackBerry officially announced the new Z30 alongside an updated BlackBerry 10.2 OS. It might not have gained the pomp or wall-to-wall blanket coverage an Apple iPhone or Samsung Galaxy launch is lavished with, but in many ways the BlackBerry Z30 announcement is far more important, at least to BlackBerry.
BlackBerry Z30 Specs and Features
The near endless leaks throughout August all seem to have been fulfilled. The BlackBerry Z30 is a big-screen 5-inch Super AMOLED display, oddly no mention of resolution was made but we're sticking with the 1280x720 that has been mentioned many a times before. Inside it is a pretty punchy dual-core Qualcomm Snapdragon S4 running at 1.7GHz with a quad-core Adreno 320 GPU.
BlackBerry is getting pretty feisty over battery life. It's packing the biggest BlackBerry battery yet, at 2880mAh and it suggests this is capable of up to 25 hours of use. It puts this down to battery enhancements in BB10.2, but if it's true in a battery-starved mobile world, that could be a decent USP for the new Z30. Having said that BlackBerry does qualify the claim with this little lot of small print “Based on mixed usage scenario. Many factors affect battery life, including network connectivity, application usage, feature configuration and battery age.”
Stereo audio has made it to the BlackBerry Z30 with its Natural Sound speaker system. Not only is this going to enhance video, music and games, BlackBerry is keen to point out this brings stereo sound to video and voice chats too. We're presuming there's a stereo microphone in there, right?
A new Paratek Antenna technology, which comes from an acquisition made by BlackBerry back at the start of 2012, has finally made it into a BlackBerry phone. This dynamically tunes reception to give better reception even in low-quality signal areas. For clearer voice calls and faster data transfers.
BlackBerry's Z30 has 2GB of memory, 16GB of storage with a microSD expansion slot supporting 64GB cards, alongside micro-HDMI and micro-USB ports. It also has an 8MP rear camera with 1080p video and 2MP front camera with 720p video support. As with all BB10 devices it's 4G-ready with NFC, Bluetooth and dual-band Wireless-N. Physically it will sport that woven Kevlar back and measures 140.7x72x9.4mm and weighs 170g
