With the iPhone 5 not launching until tomorrow in the UK the only way to currently enjoy iOS 6 is on older iPhones and iPads. Apple made the new operating system available to download in the UK yesterday, although it didn't go as smoothly as they might have planned.
Just like every other iOS release the demand for the new platform crashed Apple's servers for a good couple of hours. However, those who managed to download and install the update havn't had any issues with the new version of Apple's operating system.
As always 3G recommends those planning to update their Apple device to backup their settings and data before installing the new version of iOS. You'll also want to download the update over WiFi to avoid incurring high data charges from your operator.
Apple iOS 6 is available to download for the iPhone 4S, iPhone 4, iPhone 3GS, New iPad and the Apple iPad 2. Sadly, that means those with the original iPhone , iPhone 3G or the original iPad miss out on the update.
Those lucky enough to own devices supporting iOS 6 will see a whole of new features and improvements coming to their Apple device.
That includes a whole new version of Apple Maps (pictured above) with support for 3D Maps, an improved version of Siri, even deeper Facebook integration and the option to reject calls with automated text-messages such as "I'm busy , I'll call you back". Those happy to stick with their iPhone 4S , rather than updating to the iPhone 5 , should tell themselves that they've effectively got a whole new smartphone thanks to the update to iOS 6 !
