Instagram Coming To Windows Phone 8 ?

By Simon Thomas on 11th September 2012

Instagram could be coming to the Windows Phone 8 platform according to new rumours being reported by our friends over at The Verge.

Instagram is a photo editing and sharing application which originally launched on the iPhone. Since it's launch it's been bought by Facebook and is now available on Android devices, including an optimised version made for tablets.

Apparently, a version of Instragram for Windows Phone 8 is already in production and could launch before the end of the year. The version for the Windows Phone platform is thought to be being produced by Microsoft themselves because Instagram weren't keen to devote resources to the platform.

Whoever is making the application for Windows Phone 8 it's exciting news because Instagram which presumably will be compatible with Nokia's Lumia 920 which features a stunning new Pureview Camera. This is unconfirmed but we can't see Instagram not support Nokia's new flagship smartphone.

We get the distinct impression from the leak that Instagram won't be available on the older version of Microsoft's platform , which is disappointing for owners of Windows Phone 7 smartphones. However, we could be wrong and 3G will bring you any fresh information when we get it.
