EE's 4G LTE Network Won't Be Ready In Time For The iPhone 5 Launch

The only place to get the iPhone 5 with 4G LTE support in the UK will be on Everything Everywhere (EE). However, the 4G LTE network won't be available in time for the launch of the iPhone 5 on September 21st.

This puts those looking to buy an iPhone 5 in a bit of a dilemma because they can either get their iPhone 5 from another operator without 4G LTE support on September 21st or wait for EE to make the smartphone available on their network.

One solution offered up by EE is to take out the smartphone now on T-Mobile or Orange and then upgrade to EE's 4G LTE network when it becomes available.

No charge will be incurred for upgrading but you will have to start another 24 month contract all over again, while the 4G LTE tariffs could well be more expensive than current 3G tariffs. For this reason it's best to wait patiently, but we understand that might not be possible for a lot of people.

EE's 4G LTE network is currently in testing in a number of major cities and will be rolled out to 16 major UK cities before the end of 2012. A number of 4G LTE smartphones are launching on the network this year including the iPhone 5, Samsung Galaxy SIII LTE and the Nokia Lumia 920.

4G LTE is around five times faster than the fastest 3G network currently available in the UK. This will speed up downloading, browsing and streaming significantly and its definitely a worthwhile upgrade.

As soon as 3G hear more about the availibity of the iPhone 5 on EE you'll be the first to know !
