Blackberry Messenger Gets Into Collins® English Dictionary.

By Simon Thomas on 17th September 2012

Blackberry Messenger (BBM) is a hugely successful application which is used by millions of people across the world. It enables you to communicate for free with people all over the world on your Blackberry device !

BBM has now become so popular that Collins have decided to include it in the latest version of their English dictionary. In the dictionary Blackberry Messenger (BBM) is defined as "an instant messaging device for Blackberry smartphones".

RIM, who own Blackberry,  must be very pleased that their messenger has become so well known it's entered into official sources as a recognised word. Although they were probably already pleased enough with the amount of people using their service worldwide.

However, not everything is rosy for RIM because they've been seeing their smartphone market share dropping substantially in all major markets across the world. The biggest problem is Apple's iPhone and the huge range of Android smartphones which are impacting on their sales.

Blackberry are launching a new operating system, Blackberry 10, next year which they hope will begin to turn around their recent fortunes. However, 3G arn't convinced it's going to be enough to half the progress of both Apple and Samsung's smartphones.
