3G always knew that HTC were selling a pile of Android smartphones in the UK but up until now we hadn't spotted any definitive figures. comScore, a global leader in market research, has undertaken a comprehensive research of market share covering mobile operating systems in Europe, smartphone feature useage and Android smartphone manufacturing share in Europe.

The research findings for the top Android manufacturers  is summarised in the table above via comScore and reveals that HTC has sold over 50% of the Android smartphones in the UK. In addition looking at whats called the EU5 countries ( UK, France, Germany, Italy and Spain ) HTC comes out top again with over a third of all sales i.e 34.6%.

The research also shows that Samsung are a near contender to HTC in the EU5 countries ( see above ) yet Sony Ericsson, LG and Motorola are someway behind.

The comScore research also states that nearly 20 million people have chosen an Android smartphone in the EU5 countries and that in terms of the top performing smartphone platforms in the EU5 countries over the last twelve months are Symbian ( 37.8% ), Google ( 22.3% ) Apple ( 20.3% ), BlackBerry ( 9.4% ) and Microsoft with 6.5%.
