Amazon To Launch Android Store and Tablet ?
![]() |
The latest internet rumours are suggesting that Amazon are in the process of building their own Android App Store.
The store will feature applications from other developers which will result in a revenue split and Amazon would give applications it's approval. Apparently, the applications would also be DRM tagged so that they will only work with Amazon approved devices.
This has also led many people to suggest that Amazon could be working on a branded Android Internet Tablet, which would explain the App Store.
The fact that Amazon has experience in the e-book field with its Kindle certainly makes the move more likely and we wouldn't be surprised if we saw an Amazon internet tablet launching at the start of next year.
Perhaps the device will also be a replacement for the Kindle and will be promoted as a tablet with great e-book functionality.
