Europe : Last week Nokia announced the Nokia Booklet 3G with much hype at Nokia World 2009 and Nokia’s shares immediately rose 6% on the back of the Nokia Booklet 3G announcement.
Everyone is expecting to see bucket loads of Nokia Booklet 3G’s to pour into the UK and other countries before Xmas. Well if reports are true from Digitimes in ASIA then there will only be a first batch of 100K Nokia Booklet 3G’s available for all outlets in the world. This indicates that Nokia does not see initial demand as hectic and this is probably due to the price Nokia reported last week of 575 Euros per Nokia Booklet 3G.

The bulk of the manufacturing seems to be done in Taiwan, and Digitimes report the 100K Nokia Booklet 3G order from Nokia has been assigned in the following way :
Order for 2009 delivery from Nokia for 100K Nokia Booklet 3G’s
Main manufacturer is with Compal Electronics ( Taiwan )
Panels with AU Optronics ( Taiwan )
Picture tubes with Chunghwa Picture Tubes ( Taiwan )
3G Modules with Option Wireless Technology ( Belgium )
So our guess is that Nokia only placed an order for 100K Nokia Booklet 3G as they have calculated that 100K units will be ample to satisfy the initial launch demand at a price of 575 Euros per unit.
