ASIA
: An all-round strategic partnership between CTBC and Huawei, the
largest telecom equipment supplier of China, was recently observed
by the agreement signed by Mr. Weber Pimenta de Melo , CEO of CTBC,
and Mr. Richard Zhang Wei, CEO of Huawei do Brazil. Both CTBC and
Huawei established further cooperation in both mobile and fixed network.
CTBC
selected Huawei to build a next generation mobile network. Huawei
will provide a total telecommunication network solution to CTBC with
whole Mobile Infrastructure (GSM/GPRS/EDGE/UMTS), Data (Core Router),
Optical Network (SDH and DWDM), Broadband Access (DSLAM) and a unified
value-added service platform.
The delivery
and installation of the equipments will be fulfilled in the shortest
possible time. In December of 2004 CTBC plans to put Huawei mobile
network into commercial deployment in its concession area including
Sao Paulo , Minas Gerais, Goias and Mato Grosso do Sul.
"Effectiveness
of capital investment is the highest priority in network development.
Huawei Technologies' solutions are very attractive in optimal combination
of price and quality. As our strategic partner, Huawei can provide
customized and high cost-effective solutions to meet our needs ",
emphasized Mr. Weber Pimenta de Melo.
"CTBC
is the first operator to adopt Huawei's products in fixed network.
We are grateful to CTBC for its trust and for the given opportunity
to also let us demonstrate the advantages of Huawei's mobile network
solutions in Brazil", said Richard Zhang Wei. "As for Huawei
we intend to do everything in our power to create the network that
will fully meet our customers' demand."
Huawei
will provide the total solution from core network, wireless access
network, service platform and transmission system. For the core network,
Huawei will provide new generation soft-switch MSC, which is based
on R4-structure with packet switch technology and adopts advanced
technologies. Also, Huawei soft-switch MSC can be shared by GSM and
WCDMA, enabling a smooth evolution into 3G systems. It is the first
time that GSM soft-switch MSC (Based on R4-structure) is put into
commercial application in Latin America.
Huawei's
soft-switch MSC has already won a contract in GSM network of AIS in
Thailand and CMCC in China. ETISALAT in UAE and SUNDAY in Hong Kong
both selected Huawei's new generation soft-switch MSC to build their
WCDMA networks. And now, more and more operators are beginning to
deploy soft-switch MSCs in their GSM networks. This will not only
help operators maintain a leading edge in GSM network construction
but also save existing investment when they choose to construct 3G
networks in the future.
The soft-switch
GSM MSC is thus getting more and more popular. Compared with traditional
GSM MSC, it has much more advantages as shown below:
It adopts
advanced soft-switch technology and supports VoIP, and saves transmission
resources with IP transmission instead of TDM transmission.
It supports the R4 distributed networking function. R4 networking
reduces CAPEX and OPEX and also improves network quality.
Complying with international standards and protocols, it supports
all services and functions of GSM and with mere software upgrading,
3G services shall be supported in the future thus saving existing
investment as the network develops.
Huawei will provide Unified Intelligent Network (UIN), which will
cover the new GSM/GPRS/EDGE network and the existing TDMA network,
and will also cover the coming UMTS (3G) network. Besides abundant
IN services, such as PPS (Pre-Paid Service), VPN (Virtual Private
Network), FPH (Free Phone), Televoting, NP (Number Portability) Black&Whitelist
, Huawei will also provide value-added services platforms such as
SMS (Short Message Service), MMS (Multimedia Message Service), PTT
(Push to Talk), LBS (Location-Based Service), Streaming service and
etc.
Being
an integrated telecom equipment supplier, Huawei has deployed products
to a large number of operators worldwide. Its advanced overall network
solutions exactly meet the needs of CTBC. Among the solutions, Huawei
GSM/GPRS/EDGE/UMTS solution has been widely deployed by over 90 operators
from more than 40 countries. And Huawei CDMA end-to-end solution also
has been widely deployed by over 50 operators from more than 35 countries.
