Thin
Multimedia, Inc., the leading provider of wireless announced the U.S.
launch of the web-based application Thin Video Mail™,which allows
users to create and send video messages to video-enabled cell phones
in Korea. During the promotional period, users can easily access Thin
Multimedia’s website at http://www.thinmultimedia.com, and, using
a web camera, create and send a short video message for free. SK Telecom,
the number one wireless provider in Korea, has over two million of these
video-enabled phones in service in Korea.
Launched
in time for Chu Seok, a Korean holiday similar to U.S. Thanksgiving,
Thin
Multimedia hopes to give Koreans in America a unique way to send a message
to their
relatives and friends in Korea.
“We
wanted to give users in the U.S. a way to connect with relatives that
is more
personal and more fun than just a voice phone call.” said Dale
Park, COO of Thin
Multimedia. “With Thin Video Mail, it’s easy for moms to
create a short video of their
new baby, students to say hello to their parents, and teenagers to send
funny messages to their friends.”
Thin
Video Mail is just one of the many wireless video applications that
over two million
SK Telecom users are enjoying in Korea. The service also includes applications
for video
entertainment such as Thin Video on Demand, video monitoring for viewing
live video
feeds from homes security systems and video communication such as Thin
Video Mail.
Over the last year, SK Telecom has seen massive growth in the number
of video-enabled
handsets – those handsets that include Thin Multimedia’s
video software – as well as in
active usage of the service.
