Huawei Technologies announced that it has become one of the industry's pioneer vendors to deliver a CDMA solution for the 450MHz spectrum - a frequency band allocated in many parts of the world for mobile communications. "The CDMA450 system has been designed to provide operators an ideal migration path toward 3G. Our well-proven platform and expertise in the deployment of CDMA 1X will help mobile operators quickly deliver high-quality voice and high-speed data services with their current 450MHz spectrum," said Ms. Yu Xiangping, director of international marketing division for mobile products of Huawei. "In addition, we can also help operators maximize their network value by continually introducing revenue-generating, value-added services." CDMA450 is the IMT-2000 CDMA system operating in the 450MHz spectrum. The use of lower frequency bands renders highly favorable radio wave propagation and enables CDMA450 base stations to almost double its coverage reached by existing digital base stations operating in the 800-900MHz spectrum. The inherent attribute makes it possible for operators to cover sparsely populated areas with fewer base stations and vastly reduce investment on network infrastructure. The CDMA2000 1X technique provides over 20 times capacity than that of the first generation analogue Nordic Mobile Telephone (NMT) and enables a wide range of high-speed data services, which rivals other 3G systems. Based on CDMA2000 1X technique, Huawei's CDMA450 solution provides high-speed data services of up to 154Kbps. It is backward compatible with IS-95 and can smoothly evolve to CDMA2000 1xEV. The solution has the flexibility in providing either mobile or fixed services with the same network infrastructure. In fact, Huawei has already successfully deployed CDMA2000 1X networks across China, i.e. the network in China's Nanchang City. With careful network planning and optimization, the voice capacity has reached 54 subscribers per sector-carrier. Abundant data services have been realized, such as web surfing, Video-On-Demand (VOD) and Location Based Services (LBS). Huawei's mobile network solutions have already been deployed in over 20 countries. With the massive applications, Huawei has obtained a wealth of experiences in international project management and implementation. "We are quite sure that Huawei will achieve a lot more in technology advancement and market share in the future for both CDMA and other mobile systems," said Ms. Yu confidently. |
