Based on its forerunner the CDMA2000 1X-AIME Test System, the Racal Instruments' EV-DO-AIME offers the user a full set of Test Cases complying with the IS-919 Signaling Conformance Specification. There is an option to run similar Test Cases for CDMA2000 1X and the legacy IS-95-A and IS-95-B systems based on the IS-898 specification. Another significant benefit of the new system is that it allows hybrid handoff testing. Hybrid handoff is the process of transferring a data call in progress to a CDMA2000 1X base station from a CDMA2000 1xEV-DO base station without interruption as the user moves from the range of one base station to the other. Hybrid handoff testing is complex and although it is not laid down in the current IS-919 standard, the need to perform these tests is widely accepted. Richard Catmur, Racal's Product Manager commented, "This is the only tester able to deliver this level of flexibility housed in one system. There are now over a thousand test cases defined by the Standards bodies for mobile manufacturers to run and the number is steadily increasing. In such a demanding test environment versatility is paramount. Existing customers can upgrade current CDMA2000 1X-AIME systems at a fraction of the cost of a new system." |
