Picture shows : Tektronix' NetTek® BTS field tool which adds CDMA 1x EV-DO troubleshooting capability to its toolbox, enabling operators to offer increased data services to subscribers. Options CDE and CRE add automatic 1x EV-DO measurements and analysis tools, simplifying troubleshooting tasks and dramatically reducing installation time. The NetTek® fills the gap between expensive, full-compliance testing tools and low-cost instruments designed to perform only one measurement. The latest step in the path to the Code Division Multiple Access (CDMA) is the high-performance 1x Evolution-Data Optimized (1x EV-DO) technology that provides increased data rates in mobile networks. Built on the existing CDMA infrastructure, installation of 1x EV-DO technology is relatively simple; however, because it relies on time division (TDMA) techniques to share its data bandwidth among many users, installers may encounter complex behaviors not seen with traditional CMDA systems. Options CDE and CRE, Tektronix' newest additions to the NetTek® BTS field tool, add automatic CDMA2000 1x EV-DO measurements and analysis tools, simplifying troubleshooting tasks and dramatically reducing installation time. The new options are compliant to the CDMA2000 1x EV-DO standard. "Tektronix' NetTek® field tool is an innovative instrument for field trials. With its lightweight, modular architecture, we're able to quickly and efficiently troubleshoot our 1x EV-DO network," said Ki-Mo Jeong, SK Telecom Engineer. "With the increased data rates available on 1x EV-DO networks, subscribers get the enhanced services they want and operators have more potential for revenue," said Mark Kulper, General Manager, Wireless Product Line, Tektronix, Inc. "High data rates bring new troubleshooting challenges to mobile networks and requires field technicians to stop problems fast to avoid Quality of Service (QoS) problems. As 1x EV-DO is deployed, it is essential to equip field teams with tools that help them solve unfamiliar problems quickly and accurately." New Options Automate CDMA2000 1x EV-DO Installation, Troubleshooting With Proven Tool Options CDE and CRE for the NetTek® BTS field tool are software tools for CDMA2000 1x EV-DO demodulation and RF BTS measurements, respectively. The automated features include a range of Medium Access Controls (MAC) layer code domain and signal quality measurements that require no time reference. In addition, easy-to-use built-in analysis tools and display formats supplement the users' own measurement skills, ensuring accurate, repeatable results from technicians of all levels. Moreover, the NetTek® BTS Field Tool's update rate is ten times faster than other solutions of its kind, allowing field users to step through complex conformance checks quickly. About The NetTek® BTS Field Tool The NetTek® BTS field tool is a rugged portable platform with multi-standard measurement capability. The NetTek® fills the gap between expensive, full-compliance testing tools and low-cost instruments designed to perform only one measurement. The instrument's modular architecture supports a range of BTS transmitter measurements for standards including UMTS/WCDMA, cdmaOne (IS-95), CDMA2000, CDMA2000 1x EV-DO, GSM and IS-136. The instrument's Windows-based user interface simplifies operation in the field. The compact battery-powered tool, which weighs just over 12 lbs (4 kg), is to transport to remote sites. In addition, the NetTek® platform is unique in the industry by virtue of its ability to address optical, electrical protocol (T1) and RF test requirements. |
