US : Axesstel announced it received a purchase order valued at approximately $1.8 million from a large infrastructure provider, headquartered in China, for Axesstel D1900 (1900 MHz) and D800 (800 MHz) Wireless Broadband Modems. Axesstel has begun shipments of both modems to the company. The infrastructure provider is a leader in providing next generation telecommunications network solutions for operators around the world. The D1900 and D800 modems will be bundled with its 1900 MHz and 800 MHz band CDMA2000 1xEV-DO infrastructure and sold into Africa. “This order developed out of a strong collaborative partnership we have built with this infrastructure provider over the years,” said Marv Tseu, chief executive officer for Axesstel. “Going forward, we will look to establish more strategic partnerships with industry leading infrastructure providers to build out our distribution channels and further penetrate rapidly growing emerging markets in Africa and worldwide.” Access to data services and the Internet in Africa are either very limited or not available at all. For example, according to ITU’s World Telecommunications Indicators (May 2006), only two in every 100 people in Africa have access to the Internet. The Axesstel EV-DO modems, bundled with the infrastructure provider’s impending network deployments, will extend greater access to broadband data and the Internet in the region. The infrastructure provider’s Sub-Saharan Africa division covers 39 countries throughout the continent of Africa and its equipment has been deployed in over 30 countries throughout the region. Axesstel's D1900
and D800 Wireless Broadband Modems allow users to connect their desktop
PCs or laptops to the Internet for email and web browsing over CDMA2000
1xEV-DO networks deployed worldwide. The D1900 and D800 uniquely support
Ethernet connectivity, giving users easy to use, plug-and-play access
to data networks without the need to download software. The modems
provide broadband access to data at speeds up to 2.4 Mbps and also
support local area networks (LANs) and wireless local area networks
(WLANs) for streamlined networking of multiple desktop PCs or laptops.
Receive diversity antennas increase signal strength, widen coverage
area, and maximize data throughput.
