: The Digifusion RedCom Videophone is the world’s first solution
of its kind to utilise the new compression standard H.264, enabling
high quality video calls, as well as increased audio call quality,
over existing broadband networks. With a plug-in wireless option,
the Videophone can be attached to any TV set in a wireless broadband-enabled
home, offering excellent flexibility and ease of use. Other key features
include interoperability with 3G/PCs, a picture-in-picture option
allowing users to watch TV whilst making a video call, the ability
to transmit multimedia messages and access to interactive services.
The Videophone will be available at an easily affordable, entry-level
price.
The broadband
Videophone is the first product to launch from the new joint venture
whereby Fusion provide marketing, distribution and manufacturing,
with RedCom responsible for hardware and software design, implementation
and integration support.
Broadband
represents a high value growth industry. Currently, over 80% of broadband
income is derived from access costs, analysts predict, however, that
future revenue growth will be fuelled via additional added value services
such as video telephony. The usage of such services is expected to
rise dramatically in the next 3 years. The Digifusion RedCom Videophone
therefore presents an ideal solution for broadband operators and ISPs
across the globe seeking innovative offerings to stimulate consumer
demand and drive subscriptions, whilst gaining customer loyalty and
creating additional revenue streams. The unit’s secure billing
and ability to interface with telecoms networks allows seamless access
to mobile and landline networks.
Barry
Rubery, CEO of Fusion Digital Technology commented, “We’re
delighted to be working alongside RedCom to enable us to offer technically
advanced, added-value solutions for service providers. The Digifusion
RedCom Videophone opens the door for Broadband Providers and ISPs
to numerous new and exciting revenue opportunities by enabling a new
dimension in service delivery.”
Rahul
Mehra of RedCom said, “This affordable Videophone solution is
designed to meet the needs of both broadband service providers/ISPs
and consumers worldwide. Security, robustness, excellent video quality
and ease-of-use are all built in.”
