Samsung Galaxy S4 4G LTE Advanced : 2 Major Plus Points Over Standard S4
Samsung Galaxy S4 – 4G LTE Advanced On Way To Europe
The Samsung Galaxy S4 – 4G LTE Advanced (LTE-A) has appeared on Samsung’s German website. We knew it was coming as the lucky Koreans have had this for a few months now.
There are two great reasons to get one when it lands in the UK.
4G Mobile Download Speeds of Twenty Times Standard 3G
The first is that this is the world’s first 4G LTE Advanced smartphone in the world and is capable of handling 4G download speeds of up to 150 Mbits per second. In practical terms this means that it can download mobile data four times faster than the same smartphone on standard 4G and twenty times faster than standard 3G.

Quad-core 2.3GHz Qualcomm Snapdragon 800 processor
The second reason to get one is that also comes with a much improved processor. Currently the processor in the Galaxy S4 is the quad-core 1.9GHz Snapdragon 600 CPU. This has now been updated to a quad-core 2.3GHz Qualcomm Snapdragon 800 processor. In addition, they come with different Graphics Processing Units ( GPU ) ( Adreno 330 GPU in 2.3GHz and an Adreno 320 GPU in 1.9GHz ).
The above brings faster processor speeds, improved video capture/playback and up to 21 megapixel support, stereoscopic 3D and Dual ISP within the camera module.
When Will The UK Get It ?
The Galaxy S4 – 4G LTE Advanced will operate on all three of the UK’s 4G frequency bands which are 800MHz, 1800MHz and 2.6Ghz. We would expect to see the Galaxy S4 LTE-A on sale in the UK early next year. The problem is that only one 4G mobile operator has even made mention of 4G LTE Advanced so far.
EE are the sole driver, to date, of updating its 4G mobile network to LTE–A. EE will launch a 4G LTE-A mobile network trial in London this November with the aim of rolling out 4G LTE–A in 2014.
So for the foreseeable future the only place to benefit from mobile download speeds of four times that of standard 4G with a new Galaxy S4 LTE-A will be with EE.
