It's almost that time of year again, yep.. it's October already and that's when Apple normally unveil their new iPads. This year doesn't look set to buck the trend , because people familiar with Apple's plans have informed the folks over at AllThingsD that Apple will unveil the iPad 5 and iPad Mini 2 on October 22nd.
Apple will unveil their next-gen tablets at a invitation-only press event taking place in San Fransisco , at a currently unconfirmed venue.
Initial information from retailers has suggested that Apple's recently released iPhones (5S and 5C) havn't been selling as well as expected - thought to be due to their high-price, and Apple will be hoping their new tablets don't suffer the same fate. What do we know about Apple's incoming tablets?
Apple's iPad 5 is expected to adopt the new thinner, more compact design introduced by the original iPad Mini. A recently leaked video (posted below) suggests that it could be 2mm thinner, 15mm narrower, 2mm shorter and more than 50g lighter than the iPad 4.
We've also been led to believe that the iPad 5 will have a faster A7 processor and a significantly improved camera. However, the big questions on every-one's lips is whether it will have a fingerprint sensor and if it'll be available in Gold ? We can't say for sure, so we'll all have to wait a couple of weeks to find out !
The iPad Mini 2 is expected to improve on its predecessor with the inclusion of a Retina display. That alone will be incentive to convince a whole host of users to pickup Apple's compact tablet, although it's faster processor and better camera are also important improvements.
Leaked images of the iPad Mini 2 (pictured below) suggest that it'll be available in the new iPhone 5S colour-range (Gold, Silver and Space Grey), although we've got a feeling that the fingerprint sensor will only be included on the more-expensive iPad 5.
As soon as 3G get more news about the iPad 5 or the iPad Mini 2 you'll be the first to know !
