HTC One wins 3 prestigious T3 Gadget Awards, but HTC's market share continues to tumble.
The T3 Gadget Awards took place where the best technology devices of 2013 were acknowledged. The winners of the prestigious awards were decided by a panel of industry experts and readers votes and were unveiled at Old Billingsgate in London on October 3rd.
The biggest winner at the event was undoubted the HTC One, which scooped no less than 3 awards including being awarded 'Gadget Of The Year'. As well as winning the most important award of the evening , the HTC One also bagged won 'Phone Of The Year' and the 'T3 Design Award'.
So HTC have made a great smartphone with the HTC One, although sadly that doesn't seem to have been enough with the company recently reporting their first ever loss. Even more worryingly their smartphone market share has halved in just 12 months - so come on people vote with your pockets, or we may miss out on more great HTC smartphones in the future.
A technology awards ceremony rarely passes without Apple scooping at least one award and the T3 Gadget Awards were no different, with Apple's iPad Mini branded 'Tablet Of The Year'. We would have given the award to Sony's Xperia Tablet Z, but there is no denying that the iPad Mini has a stunning design - although many people were unhappy with it's non-Retina display.
Other awards winners included Google Glass, which won 'Innovation Of The Year', and Samsung who took home the 'Tech Brand Of The Year'. Awards are all well and good, but Samsung have been the real winners so far in 2013 posting record profits (£5.85bn).
Looking forward to next years awards we have to wonder what things will look like. Will Apple's iPhone 6 and Samsung's Galaxy S5 dominate proceedings? Will Nokia's revival continue in light of their recent acquisition by Microsoft ? Will BlackBerry still be trading and could HTC have turned around their fortunes ?
