Samsung sent out invites to a press event due to take place tomorrow earlier this month.  The invites asked journalists to "be there when something small comes out really big". This was widely interrupted as the unveiling of the Samsung Galaxy SIII Mini and this has now been officially confirmed.

JK Shin, head of Samsung Mobile Communication, has confirmed that Samsung will be unveiling the Galaxy S3 Mini at the event taking place tomorrow in Germany. The information comes from Korean website inews24 and was obtained from a meeting taking place between Shin and reporters in Korea.

The Samsung Galaxy S3 Mini is a 4 inch smartphone which won't compromise on specification despite it's compact form-factor. Shin also hinted that the new smartphone aims to offer an alternative to potential iPhone 5 owners.

No precise details about the Galaxy SIII Mini were given but we'd expect it have a decent specification, but some comprimises will be made compared when you compare it the full-size Galaxy S3.

3G expects the Galaxy SIII Mini to come with a dual-core processor clocked around 1.5 GHz , while we also expect it to have 1GB of RAM and 8 or 16GB of on-board memory. The camera is likely to come in around 5 mega-pixels, while the smartphone should support 4G LTE, 3G, NFC and run on Android Jelly Bean.

We'll be reporting on all the news from Samsung's press event which takes place in Berlin tomorrow, so check back with us to find out all about the Galaxy SIII Mini !
