The Samsung Ativ S was the first Windows Phone 8 smartphone to be officially unveiled and it's now been priced and dated in the UK.
Online retailer Handtec have added the Ativ S to its online store where Samsung's smartphone is priced at £432. The launch date is listed as "the first week of November" , which is when Microsoft's Windows Phone 8 platform is expected to officially land.
The price of Samsung's Ativ S effectively makes it an alternative to the Samsung Galaxy SIII for those who prefer the Windows operating system over Google's Android platform.
The specification of the Ativ S stacks up pretty well against Samsung's flagship Android smartphone and includes a 4.8 inch HD Super AMOLED touch-screen, quad-core 1.5 Ghz processor, 1GB of RAM and an 8 mega-pixel camera.
The Ativ S comes with 16GB of on-board memory, although a version with 32GB will also be available with both also supporting microSD cards. Supported connectivity includes 3G, WiFi, NFC and Bluetooth which sadly means it doesn't support 4G LTE.
3G hope to review the Samsung Ativ S very soon and we'll let you know when we get news of what UK operators will be stocking Samsung's Windows smartphone.
