Asus will unveil the Padfone 2 next week and some images and a video of the smartphone have now appeared online. For those who never came across the original Padfone it was a unique device because it doubled as both a smartphone and a tablet thanks to the use of a docking station.
The video of the Asus Padfone 2 was posted by Bloomberg TV India, but has since been removed suggesting it was posted accidentally. However, it wasn't removed before we learnt some more about Asus's smartphone including confirmation that it'll have a 4.7 inch touch-screen and 13 mega-pixel snapper.
The docking station has also been made lighter and thinner, while it also loses the opening door mechanism present on the first Padfone in favour of a sliding solution. That should make it a much more compact , lighter and more user-friendly tablet.
In addition to the video leak a couple of images have been leaked by Twitter user EVleaks. One of the images can be viewed above and shows not only the Padfone 2 , but also the docking station described above.
Back at the end of September we reported on a leaked retail box which unveiled the specification of Asus's Padfone 2. According to the leaked image the Asus Padfone 2 will have a 4.7 inch IPS+ display running at a resolution of 1280*720 pixels and will have a quad-core 1.5 Ghz processor and 2GB of RAM.
Other features of the Padfone 2 are expected to include a 13 mega-pixel camera , a front-facing 1.2 mega-pixel camera for video calls , while it'll support 4G LTE , NFC, 3G and WiFi. We're not sure what version of Android it'll run on , but we can tell from the specification that it won't come cheap !
We'll bring you all the news about the Asus Padfone 2 when it is unveiled on October 16th.
