Google Translate Reaches Version 2.2
Android Apps, Google Android, Google Translate
The Google Translate application has been updated to version 2.2 for Android smartphones.
In the last version of the holiday friendly application Google introduced an Alpha version of Conversation Mode. This enables you to speak into your mobile in your native tongue and the application will then translate and read back your message in your chosen language.
Google hope that people will be able to have whole conversations with people from different countries using Conversation Mode. With version 2.2 they have improved the service by enabling you to easily modify spoken messages that have been misinterpreted using text changes. You can now also view written results in full-screen and zoom on certain aspects.
Many new languages have been added to Conversation Mode including Brazilian Portuguese, Czech, Dutch, French, German, Italian, Japanese, Korean, Mandarin Chinese, Polish, Russian and Turkish.
Other improvements brought by Google Translate 2.2 include optimisation for the larger screens features on Android Tablets.
You can download Google Translate 2.2 from the Android Market here.
