What Improvements Will webOS 2.0 Bring ?

Palm has today announced the launch of the Palm Pre 2 with the new webOS 2.0 operating system.
We thought it would be a good time to explain exactly what improvements the new mobile operating system will bring.
There are a number of major improvements which are as follows :

Improved Multitasking - Palm webOS 2.0 gives "true multi-tasking" which enables you to switch between applications easily. New technology called "stacks" means the process is more efficient because the OS will now monitor tasks running not just applications and group them together.

Just Type - The new OS enables you to start an email , create a message or search your favourite websites by just typing without having to open an app. This improves the usability of the mobile no-end.

HP Synergy - webOS 2.0 will enable you to combine all your contacts into one manageable list from a number of sources including Facebook, Yahoo, Microsoft Exchange and many more.

Exhibition - A new service that enables you to run apps that have been designed for when your mobile is charging on your Palm TouchStone Charging Dock. So for example you can view your photos or your agenda while the mobile is charging.

Adobe Flash Player 10.1 - The new OS will bring the ultimate browser experience to your mobile
A number of new features has also been added to previous functions including
- Contacts - The ability to tag your favourite contacts so they appear at the top of your contact lists
- Text Assist - expanded capability to spell check, auto correct , customize the dictionary and set-up macros.
- Quickoffice Connect Mobile Suite - All new document viewer that supports formats from Word, Excel , Powerpoint and Google Docs.
- Facebook 2.0 - Will support Facebook instant messaging and the new "Stacks" technology
- Browser - Will now support HTML5 features and additional plug-ins.
- Launcher - Redesigned for easier use and now lets you add, label and re-order pages
- Bluetooth Keyboard - Now supports Bluetooth keyboards and Bluetooth SPP peripherals.
- Accounts - New accounts app gives you a single place to manage all your Synergy accounts.
webOS 2.0 certainly looks like it will be a great operating system and we look forward to reviewing the Palm Pre 2.0 in the future.
