Nokia has announced the release of a new peripheral for Symbian^3 device. The DAB headset enables you to listen to digital radio on your mobile phone.
The new accessory takes advantage of the USB-On-The-Go feature of new mobiles which enables you to add extra hardware and software features to your mobile.
The accessory works by plugging into the micro-USB port on your mobile and comes with ergonomic in-ear headphones. You can also adjust the volume , change channel and deal with calls using the device. The adapter itself weighs just 30.5 grams and measures just 55 * 23 * 14.5 mm. You can also use your own headphones with the device by plugging them into the 3.5mm headphone socket.
You may be asking yourself why you need this accessory when you can listen to the built-in FM radio on your mobile. The answer lies in the fact that you can listen to many more radio stations on DAB digital radio, there is less interference and a much higher quality sound. The new accessory also supports DAB+ which is a new higher quality version.
The device is particularly useful to those who don't have unlimited internet which eliminates the possibility of them using internet radio.
The software that comes with the device enables you to choose and save stations, shows artists and tracking information and even pictures when transmitted. It also features Smart Tuning, which automatically chooses the clearest reception.
The DAB headset is compatible with the Nokia N8, C7, E7, C6-01 and all future Symbian^3 devices. The cost of the device will be £40 and it will be available in the 4th quarter of this year.
