Gartner, the international technology research company, are expecting Apple to release figures this week that iPhone sales have topped 12 million in the last three months.

Gartner report that sales of the iPhone are leaping ahead and being helped by the arrival of the iPhone 4 and also the fact that the reported antenna issues seem to have melted away.

In a separate press release, Gartner also predicts that by the end of 2010 the iPad will have reached sales of 19.5 million. Media tablets are poised for strong growth with worldwide end user sales projected to total 54.8 million units in 2011.
