Android 4.2 comes pre-loaded on Google's Nexus 4 smartphone and Nexus 10 tablet which were unveiled at the end of last month. Ever since then we'd be wondering how long it'll be before other devices will benefit from the upgrade.
The good news for owners of the Galaxy Note 2 and the Galaxy SIII is that it shouldn't be too long before both devices get the upgrade. Samsung told ZDNet that "We will announce roll-out plans for Android 4.2 to our Galaxy portfolio of devices in due course".
Even though Samsung didn't unveil exactly what devices would get Android 4.2 their two latest devices seem to be pretty nailed on to get the update. Therefore, it shouldn't be too long before owners of the Note II and Galaxy SIII are enjoying the new version of Android !
The one that's likely to make the biggest difference is the addition of support for "Gesture Typing". Gesture Typing was first introduced by Swype and enables users to type words without having to release their finger from the touch-screen !
The camera also benefits from "Photo-Sphere" which enables user to take full 460 spherical panoramic shots on their smartphone. It works in a very similar way to current panoramic modes and requires users to move their camera around while shooting.
The last major new addition is "Daydream" which turns your smartphone into an information station when it's docked. For example, it can display the news, weather, social networking updates and much more. Additionally, version 4.2 of Android is quicker than previous versions and improves a number of the core applications.
As soon as 3G gets news of the release of Android 4.2 on any of Samsung's devices you'll be the first to know !
