The Samsung ATIV S was unveiled as one of the launch devices for the Windows Phone 8 platform back at the end of August. However, it now being reported that it's launch has been delayed until the last week of 2012.
The information was reported by SamMobile who are claiming that the ATIV S won't available in stores until week 52 of 2012. That could even mean that consumers won't be able to pickup Samsung's Windows smartphone until the start of next year.
No reason for the delay has officially been given but the theory is that it relates to problems with production of the ATIV S's touch-screen display. Apparently, the demand for the Galaxy S3 has pushed Samsung's suppliers to the maximum and they are struggling to keep up.
The Samsung ATIV S has a 4.8 inch Super AMOLED touch-screen (1280*720 pixels) , while it's powered by a dual-core 1.5 GHz processor and has 1GB of RAM. The smartphone will come in a choice of either 16 or 32GB of on-board memory with both featuring an 8 mega-pixel camera.
3G will be reviewing the Samsung ATIV S as soon as we get our hands on the mobile, so keep posted to find out just how good it really is !
In the UK the ATIV S will be available exclusively from O2 who will be offering the smartphone free on a contract costing £36 a month. Currently, it's listed as "Coming Very Soon" and as it comes into stock we'll let you know. You can check out all of O2's ATIV S deals by clicking here.
