EE Increases 4G Data Allowances

By Simon Thomas on 29th November 2012

Everything Everywhere (EE) have now announced that they've increased the 4G data allowances on their mobile broadband tariffs. However, sadly the change doesn't carry over to their smartphone tariffs.

New and existing customers signing up to 4G mobile broadband on EE will now benefit from up to 60 per cent more data.

The entry-level 2GB tariff has now been upgraded to 3GB , while the 3GB plan now gets you 5GB of data and the top tariff now comes with 8GB of 4G data (up from 5GB). So how much does EE's 4G mobile broadband cost ?

Well, the 3GB 4G mobile broadband package costs £15.99 a month and you'll have to pay £49.99 upfront for either a Huawei 4G dongle or a Huawei 4G MiFi device. While , the 5GB tariff costs £20.99 with a £29.99 upfront fee and the 8GB plan costs £25.99 with no upfront fee.

This makes EE's mobile broadband much more competitive, but 3G can't help feeling disappointed that they didn't improve their smartphone deals at the same time. EE's smartphone tariffs have been widely criticised because on the lowest priced tariff, costing £36 a month , you only get 500MB of 4G data.

Until EE offer more data or lower the price of their smartphone tariffs we can't see the general public embracing 4G LTE !
