The Windows Phone MarketPlace has now had over 40,000 applications published since it launched in October 2010.
At its anniversary the Marketplace hit the 35,000 application mark, so in the last month its had an extra 5,000 applications published. However, the 40,000 figure is slightly misleading because a number of applications have been removed after originally being accepted.
The applications available to download today from the Windows Phone Marketplace is nearer to 34,000 , which is still a respectable figure for an operating system still in its infancy.
With Nokia now adopting the Windows Phone operating system the incentive for developers to produce Windows applications should have increased significantly.
3G remains to be convinced that Microsoft's Windows Phone operating system has the potential to rival Android's market share, but perhaps they can challenge Blackberry's OS and Apple's iOS operating system.
