Phillips have released the first Android Speaker Docks which are now available to buy from PCWorld and Currys in the UK.

In the past owners of Android smartphones had to stream music to speakers using Bluetooth or the line-in port.

The new Phillips  uses Bluetooth to play music, which isn't ideal, but enables you to charge your mobile while its playing using a microSD port. Cleverly, Phillips have made the connection adjustable so it doesn't matter whether the port on your smartphone is on the side or the bottom.

Three docks have been produced and are compatible with the Fidelio Android App which will automatically pair your mobile using Bluetooth when you connect it to the dock.

The top-of-the-range of all the new docks is the AS851 (pictured above) which has a 30W speaker and can run on batteries for when you are on the move. It also includes a remote control , which is a huge bonus . The mid-range AS351 has a 10W speaker , while the bottom of the range AS111 is a bed-side dock with a 360 speaker that can double as an alarm clock.

The prices are £199 for the top model, £129 for the mid-range and £70 for the lowest model. We at 3G think these prices seem quite steep and we remain unconvinced about streaming audio using Bluetooth.
