Google has reported that over 200 million Android devices have been activated worldwide.

That's a staggering figure and means that the installed user-base of Android devices has doubled since May last year. Recent reports also showed that Android has a 50 per cent market share in the smartphone market and its only growing !

Google Android has seen huge growth due to the amazing sales of a number of mobiles such as the Samsung Galaxy SII and HTC Desire. The number of smartphones running Android is incredible and Android also features on tablets , such as the Galaxy Tab and HTC Flyer.

With the launch of Android Ice Cream Sandwich (Android 4.0) we'd expect the success to continue. Infact, the appeal of Android is even greater now because version 4.0 is compatible with both tablets and smartphones , meaning more applications will be available and better cross-platform compatibility.

Whenever Google get involved in a market you know its going to be successful and the Android operating system  has to be one of their greatest successes of late. 3G can only see them going from strength to strength because once people get used to a certain operating system they become quite loyal to it.
