Nokia N8

Nokia have announced , at a launch event for the Nokia N800 in Russia, that they'll be making a new version of the Nokia N8 (pictured above).

The new Nokia N8, which could very well carry a different name, will be available sometime next year. This information is pretty concrete because it came from Nokia's Vice President.

The original Nokia N8 launched running Symbian^3 and featured an amazing 12 mega-pixel camera. It was well received with 3G giving the mobile a 4 star review and concluding that "The stylish handset will appeal to the fashion conscious, and early adopters will be happy with what's going on inside."

When the new Nokia N8 does arrive we'd expect it to launch on the Windows operating system, which is Nokia's OS of choice for its premium smartphones. It's even possible that it could run on Windows 8, which will also be launching next year !

We can't even begin to speculate what specification a new Nokia N8 would have, but Nokia will have a hard time improving on the N8's 12 mega-pixel camera with Carl Zeiss optics.

Once any more information about the successor to the Nokia N8 is made available we'll let you know.
