Motorola has announced that an upgrade to Android Gingerbread is now available for the  Motorola Milestone 2.

The Gingerbread update will be rolling out in stages across Europe, but Motorola didn't give any details of which countries will get the update first.

The Motorola Milestone 2, which is the successor to the original Milestone,  launched back in January. Motorola promised earlier in the year that they'd upgrade the smartphone to Android 2.3 by the end of this year and they've been true to their word.

Although having a slightly dated specification, as you'd expect from a smartphone almost a year old, it's still a perfectly good mobile . We're sure that owners of the mobile are still happy with it and even more so now they'll be getting Gingerbread.

The specification of the Motorola Milestone 2 includes a 3.7 inch touch-screen, 1GHz processor, 5 mega-pixel camera and 8GB of on-board memory . Those looking to pick-up a cheap Android smartphone might be wise to checkout the Milestone 2 !
