Nokia have announced that the Lumia 800 will be getting a couple of updates that will improve the smartphone's battery life. The two updates will be see a staggered release with the first one launching in December, while the next one will hit in January or February 2012.

The first of the updates will improve the power efficiency of the Nokia Lumia 800. We're not sure of the specifics , but we assume it'll substantially increase battery life. The second update is even more interesting because it will enable high voltage charging and will increase the Nokia's battery power to 1450mAh, from 1300mAH.

The battery was one of the criticism 3G noted in its review of the Lumia 800, so its good to see Nokia doing something to improve one of the phone's weaknesses.

However, in related news the latest rumours are again suggesting that the Lumia 800 isn't selling as well as Nokia would have hoped. Infact, an analyst from mobile review is suggesting that the mobile will getting a price cut early next year.

If this holds true it's more bad news for Nokia who've invested a huge amount in promoting their first Windows smartphone. If Nokia's Windows smartphones fall flat we really wonder what Nokia could try next to gain a share in the smartphone market.
