Google Maps Goes Indoors With Version 6.0
Android, Google Maps, Google Maps 6.0
Google have released version 6.0 of its Google Maps software for Android.
The new version has one major addition which is support for indoor locations. Google Maps 6.0 can help you navigate when you are inside locations, such as a shopping centre or an airport.
When inside a supported building the Google Maps application will display a detailed floor-plan of the building. When you traverse different floors the application will automatically update itself.
Sadly, only locations in the US and Japan have been added at the current time, but we're sure it won't be long before major UK attractions are added. The only slight concern we have regarding the application is whether airports in the UK will be keen to participate given the terrorist threat.
The addition of indoor support isn't the only reason to download the latest version of Google Maps.
Google have also included a new Places home-screen which automatically provides popular searches from the area you are currently in. 3G thinks that this is a very clever way to alert people to local landmarks that they may not even know were there !
A new drop-down menu has also been added to the top toolbar which helps you get to the feature you want even faster !
Google Maps 6.0 is available to download from the Android Market by clicking here.
