Skyfire Browser Proving Huge Success On iPhone
![]() |
The Skyfire browser launched last week and achieved 300,000 downloads in the last weekend alone. In fact, after launch the servers couldn't keep up with demand and downloads were halted for a time.
You might be wondering why the browser has proved so popular and the answer lies in its ability to playback Adobe Flash content on your iPhone.
Apples dislike of Flash is well-known and they don't support the web technology because they believe it is an unnecessary battery drain.
What the Skyfire browser does is to first send the Flash content to its server where it is transferred into HTML5 and then sent back to your iPhone. Flash is used on many websites and for a huge variety of interactive content and games so we can see why Skyfire is proving so popular.
You can download Skyfire in the US right now, with other markets being added shortly. The cost of Skyfire is just $2.99 and you can click here to download it.
