MeeGo 1.1 Release
![]() |
The MeeGo platform was confirmed by Intel and Nokia back in February this year. We now see that MeeGo 1.1 has been released ready for developers to download and integrate into their development work.
MeeGo is an open source, Linux project which brings together the Moblin project, headed up by Intel, and Maemo, by Nokia, into a single open source activity. MeeGo will be used on Nokia's more expensive, high end devices.
Basically, Nokia will have two operating systems which are MeeGo and Qt. Qt is a result of Symbian 3 being renamed - read more here.
The release of MeeGo 1.1 is for use by developers really and we don't intend to offer what the update brings etc but only to highlight the landing page for you to find out all about MeeGo 1.1. The page can be found here.
In May this year we covered an article suggesting that a MeeGo device would launch during 2010 but this seems highly unlikely now, particularly as Nokia MeeGo chief Ari Jaaksi has left the company recently.
