Firefox Beta 4

Mozilla have confirmed that Firefox 4 beta is now available to download for both Android and Maemo smartphones.

The new update of the popular browser has a number of improvements over the previous version.

The first improvement you should notice is that the download size has been reduced from 43MB to 17MB, which improves download time and reduces data charges.

Memory usage has also been reduced which means multi-tasking is more efficient and the app runs a lot smoother. Text rendering has also been improved which should benefit users.

Other changes in the latest version of Firefox include a new theme which brings a certain freshness to the software. They have now added the ability to easily share links with friends by using the Site Menu. Another neat new feature is the ability to undo closing a tab for those times when you close them by mistake.

The software has also been made faster in a number of ways including reducing the time taken to pan and zoom. The load times of pages has also been reduced.

Mozilla also confirmed the updates they plan to bring with the next version which include making scrolling and zooming even faster and HTML5 video support.
