The Carphone Warehouse is selling the Alcatel OT 209 mobile phone for under £1 at 99 pence. However, at the time of purchase you do need to buy a £10 Top Up which provides 300 texts.

The Alcatel OT 209 is available at this rock-bottom price on Virgin Mobile Pay As You Go. It comes in 2 colours ( silver and black ), weighs a modest 65 grams, has a 128x128, 65K display screen, a FM radio tuner and some games included. As it has so few features which could drain the battery it will power on for 400 hours in standby.

The main feature of the Alcatel OT 209 is easy texting as it has large, separated buttons and a clear, bright display. It doesn't have a camera, nor a memory card slot, nor an MP3 player and there's no Bluetooth, Wi-Fi or 3G.
