Nokia Maemo Mobile Phones Get New Mobile Maps Application

US : All Nokia Maemo devices can now benefit from a new mobile application which delivers a turn by turn navigation for Mobile Maps. The first Maemo Nokia device, the Nokia N900 will be the first to benefit from the new application.

The new application from Sygic will be available to download towards the end of this year and is called Sygic Mobile Maps. The application takes any mobile phone and makes it into a fully loaded navigation mobile phone. It already supports the following OS : Windows Mobile 6.5., Android, Symbian and the iPhone.
Regional application maps will available for the Nokia Maemo devices for the following areas :
Brazil, Colombia, North America (incl. USA, Canada & Mexico), US
Complete Europe, UK & Ireland, Russia
Australia & New Zealand, South East Asia (incl. Thailand, Singapore, Malaysia and Indonesia)
Anna Hurbanic, Sygic's PR Manager said
"We are happy to announce the compatibility of Sygic Mobile Maps with Nokia's new Maemo 5 OS. Currently we are in the phase of quality assurance performing final tests. We are working hard to launch it for sales by the end of 2009, but we won't hesitate to make this sooner anytime when ready."
