The AirCard 850 data card is available today from O2 through the company's business and retail channels and online at www.o2.co.uk. Sierra Wireless, O2, and Manx Telecom previously collaborated to launch AirCard 850 data cards on Manx Telecom's network on the Isle of Man. "The addition of the Sierra Wireless AirCard 850 data card to our product line will enable our customers to work wirelessly at speeds comparable to what they experience on a wired network," said Robert Guest, Marketing Manager for O2 UK. "O2 is committed to offering customers the best technology available, and the launch of the AirCard 850 on the O2 network is a key part of that." "O2 wireless data customers depend on their connections to deliver crucial corporate information to headquarters, to access company information in real time, and to collaborate with colleagues from anywhere," said Jim Lahey, Vice President, EMEA for Sierra Wireless. "We remain committed to enabling mobile customers to work more reliably and more efficiently than ever before." AirCard(R) 850 The AirCard 850 is manufactured by Sierra Wireless and is a 3G wireless WAN Type II PC Card with a slim, unextended design, allowing users to conveniently store the card inside the laptop. Fully functional on HSDPA, UMTS, EDGE, and GPRS networks, the card utilizes the 2100 MHz UMTS frequency band and is targeted primarily for use in Europe, offering average data rates of 500 to 800 kbps, with bursts over 1 Mbps on HSDPA networks(x). In areas where HSDPA or UMTS network coverage is not available, the card will connect to EDGE and GSM/GPRS networks and enable international roaming on all four frequency bands (850, 900, 1800, and 1900 MHz) used worldwide. |
