| CDMA2000 1xEV-DO 3G Help For IT Pros |
14th November, 2003 |
Attendees to these November sessions will see CDMA2000 1xEV-DO demonstrations and have the opportunity to qualify for a free 30-day trial of Verizon Wireless' 1xEV-DO-based BroadbandAccess service. CDMA2000 1xEV-DO is a data-optimized evolution of CDMA2000 1X that provides peak speeds up to 2.4 Mbps and typical speeds of 300-600 kbps at a lower cost per byte than any other 3G technology available today, an increasingly important factor as wireless Internet use grows in popularity. "Due to Verizon Wireless' deployment of 1xEV-DO in San Diego, local enterprise companies have access to the fastest wireless wide area network (WAN) in the nation," said Norm Fjeldheim, chief information officer and senior vice president of QUALCOMM. "QUALCOMM is an active user of this high- speed technology and has already begun rolling its CDMA2000 1X aircard users over to CDMA2000 1xEV-DO aircards. In these tech sessions, we will be providing an overview of 1xEV-DO and sharing our experiences as an IT organization on deploying the technology for our mobile users -- in the language other IT professionals understand and appreciate." Interested IT professionals can register for one of three sessions QUALCOMM is holding by going to http://events.qualcomm.com/evdo/index.html . Dates are: Nov. 13, 5-7 p.m.; Nov. 14, 11:30 a.m.-1:30 p.m.; Nov. 18, 11:30 a.m.-1:30 p.m.; and Nov. 19, 8-10 a.m. Individuals interested in an overview from Verizon Wireless of its CDMA2000 1xEV-DO-based BroadbandAccess service in San Diego can also register to attend a presentation by Marni Walden, Southern California president for Verizon Wireless, hosted by the San Diego Telecom Council on the morning of Nov. 18. Walden will be presenting at an event of the Wireless WAN Coalition special interest group of the telecom council. Interested parties can go to www.sdtelecom.org , go to the events page and click on the link to the WWAN SIG. QUALCOMM Incorporated ( www.qualcomm.com ) is a leader in developing and delivering innovative digital wireless communications products and services based on the Company's CDMA digital technology.
