Smartphone Owners Spending Five Hours A Week Browsing !

A new study conducted by the folks over at Recombu has shown just how much UK smartphone users are using their mobiles to browse the internet.

The average usage for a UK smartphone user was 4 hours a week, which doesn't sound like a whole deal on its own. However, when you think about it long-term thats over 10 days a year or two years of their life browsing on their mobile.

The most popular site visited when browsing were social networks with 40 per cent of the users using their mobile to update their favourite social network. 24 per cent use their mobile to check email, while 22 per cent shop on their smartphone.

Over 2000 people were questioned in the study, which is a large enough sample to get reliable results. However, the sample is obviously a little biased with Recombu being a mobile news site. However, with the increasing speeds and spread of mobile broadband we'd expect mobile browsing to grow exponentially over the next couple of years.

The new power of smartphone and the imminent arrival of 4G in the UK are going to get even more people browsing on their smartphones or tablet. The advent of unlimited data packages such as Three's One Plan are also benefiting to the growth in mobile browsing.
