Nokia Rebranding Ovi Services
![]() |
Nokia has had an interesting year which has already seen them announce that they will be using Windows Phone 7 on some of its smartphones, which is the first time they've used a third party operating system.
In addition , they have now announced that their Ovi services will be rebranded to Nokia services. Ovi services are all the applications that Nokia has released for mobiles and includes Ovi Maps, Ovi Music, Ovi Mail and many more.
The services will be rebranded from July of this year and Nokia hopes to have complete the process across all countries by the end of 2012. We'd expect a heavy marketing campaign featuring Nokia Music, Nokia Maps and Nokia Mail and more over the next couple of months.
The move is a logical step and we're not sure why Nokia choose the Ovi brand in the first place. Nokia are hoping the rebranding will take advantage of their recognised and trusted brand to improve their app downloads.
This year is probably the biggest in Nokia's history because they really need a smartphone to compete with the likes of Apple and HTC and the launch of a Windows Phone 7 smartphone could be where their hopes lie. The rebranding of the Ovi services is less important, but could still give Nokia a well needed boost.
