The world has gone Eco made of late and for good reason and O2 jumped on-board long ago by putting "Eco ratings" on nearly all the phones they sell in it's online shop. They have now joined force with Forumforthefuture.com to produce a report on the most Eco friendly mobiles available.

The Eco ratings were produced through a combination of factors including the mobiles impact on the environment, the ethical performance of the manufacturer and how the mobile helps people lead more sustainable lives. 

The two top rated phones both belong to Nokia with the C6-01  and E7-00 (pictured above) coming top of the pile  in joint first place.  In joint second place there are two Samsung devices, the Galaxy Ace and Mini , Sony Ericsson X8 and the Nokia C7-02.

Apple choose not to participate in this study and we'd imagine it's because the results wouldn't prove favourable because in the past Apple have been accused of using low-paid labour with rely on older less-enviromentally friendly manufacturing techniques.

Whether many people would choose a mobile based on its Eco friendliness i doubt, but at least the information is there to let consumers know which companies and devices are caring for our planet.
