Google Nexus One Store Fails To Impress

The Google Nexus One Android smartphone has been highly successful to date and also with additional models such as the Verizon Droid Incredible and the Evo from Sprint  and in Europe with the HTC Desire to name just a few.

Google Android’s platform  is being shipped in over 65,000 Android handsets per day and Google say this has exceeded their expectations. You can read this article here - Over 65K Android Mobile Phones Sell Per Day.

However, all is not working to plan when it comes to the Google Web Store selling the Google Nexus One - it has not worked. Andy Rubin, VP, Engineering at Google confirmed this last week. Google will no longer offer any smartphone or mobile device via its web store. The difficulty was that Google discovered customers wanted a hands on experience prior to buying.

Google will now  make the Google Nexus One available in more countries and  follow the same model used in Europe where they work with partners to offer the Nexus One to consumers through existing retail channels.

Once Google has increased the availability of Nexus One devices in stores, they will stop selling handsets via the web store, and will instead use it as an online store window to showcase a variety of Android phones.
