All New Video is providing GMTV (the UK’s largest breakfast television show) with two new and innovative 3G video calling services. These services will allow increased interactivity between GMTV viewers and the morning breakfast television program. GMTV viewers will be asked to video call into the show from their 3G mobile video phones. Once users are connected, the participants will be greeted with an interactive video response (IVR). Using the telephone keypad, participants will be offered the choice of recording a video message for the show, or alternatively connecting directly into the show for a two way video conversation with the presenters. The service is highly flexible and can be used for applications such as a news gathering by both GMTV reporters and viewers, in addition to less serious applications such as competitions and general ‘hot topic’ phone ins. All New Video General Manager, David Hogben, said “To have such a high profile show as GMTV promoting 3G video calling really highlights the progression of the technology, services and handset penetration in the last 12 months. This is a positive sign of more to come from All New Video. We are now handling 40,000 calls per week and this is growing at a rate of 2,500 per month.” Geoff Wright, Chief Engineer GMTV, said “Utilising All New Video’s 3G services keeps GMTV at the leading edge of participation television and maintains strong relationships with our viewers.” |
