US Mass. : Skyworks Solutions announced that it is ramping volume production in support of several current and forthcoming Sony Ericsson handsets, including the highly popular W810 Walkman(R) music phone and the Cyber-shot(TM) digital camera models. Leveraging proprietary technology, Skyworks is delivering power amplifier (PA) and front-end module (FEM) solutions to Sony Ericsson spanning several key air interfaces, namely GSM/GPRS, EDGE and WCDMA.

At the same time, Skyworks is significantly increasing its addressable content as we move in concert with Sony Ericsson to support solutions across GPRS, EDGE and more recently WCDMA."

The W810 Walkman(R) digital music player, with EDGE capability, contains a 1 gigabit (Gb) memory stick for 20 full-length audio CDs, a stereo headset for quality listening, an FM radio with radio data system (RDS), a high-performance autofocus 2 mega pixel (MP) digital camera, and short message service (SMS) text messaging. Bluetooth(TM) or Multimedia messaging is also available for sending video, pictures, music and text. The W810 incorporates the SKY77329, a PA module designed in a compact form factor for quad-band cellular handsets. With its custom CMOS integrated circuit, the module provides the internal PA control function and interface circuitry, providing envelope amplitude control by reducing sensitivity to input drive, temperature, power supply and process variation.

Skyworks is also supporting the following Sony Ericsson ramps:

-- K790 and K800 Cyber-shot(TM) digital cameras -- small and sophisticated feature-packed mobile phones -- incorporating the SKY77334, a GSM PA, and SKY77412, a WCDMA PA;

-- W950 Walkman(R) -- an ultra-slim and stylish UMTS model with 4 Gb of onboard storage and a touch screen for simple navigation through music genres, playlists, individual songs or music albums -- encompassing the SKY77334 and SKY77412 PAs; and

-- W700 Walkman(R) -- a top-quality music player with a 2 MP camera -- featuring the SKY77500 GSM/GPRS FEM with switch.
